After much anticipation, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced officially released on July 9, 2026.
Following its official reveal in April 2026, fans have eagerly been anticipating the game's drop -and it showed in the number of players who locked in during launch day. Despite the success in sales, however, fans complained about certain aspects of the release.
Here's everything we know about the situation.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Pulls Massive Launch Day Numbers Despite DLC & Cutscene Backlash
Upon launch, Black Flag Resynced garnered a massive amount of concurrent players. According to SteamDB, there was a peak concurrent player count of 99,451 players on launch day.

This makes it the highest Steam peak player count for a single-player game in Ubisoft history, beating out other AC entries, such as Assassin's Creed Shadows, which peaked at just 64,825 players on Steam.
As of this writing, there are 81,861 players active now.

Despite a successful first day in terms of user participation, Resynced was still met with some backlash. Initially, reviews leaned "Mostly Negative" on Steam (it has since shifted to "Mostly Positive") due to anger over the DLC prices.
There are nine day-one DLC packages people can purchase. They are mostly cosmetic and are all priced at $9.99 each. With the base game costing $59.99 for the Standard Version, this means players would have to spend another $85 on top of the base game to get all the content.

The DLC fans are extremely passionate about is the Map Pack, which equips a special spyglass to unlock rare collectibles across the World Map. In a single-player game, this is extremely powerful. Players have complained that this gates core progression behind a paywall.

Ubisoft has since issued a response to the DLC backlash, stating these packs are "entirely optional" and don't take away from the base experience.
Besides complaints about the DLCs, players also complained the cinematic cutscenes were locked at 30fps. Ubisoft has acknowledged this technical error and promised an official fix will be coming soon.
They've also stated that a quick fix is to go to your settings, reset graphics from Overall Preset to any pre-configured setting, and avoid setting the options to Ultra High.
