It’s official: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a hit for Ubisoft. The developers have shared via social media that the game sold 2 million copies on its first day since release. The game even broke Ubisoft's personal Steam concurrent users record.

I reviewed the game and gave it a stellar 9/10, with some grievances like repetitive combat keeping it away from being a perfect 10/10, which I’ve no doubt in my mind would’ve been well deserved.
Ubisoft being so clear about copies sold this time around is a complete sign of trust, as they were very coy with last year’s release, AC Shadows, only mentioning metrics like players that logged in to their servers to play. The studio did say Shadows overperformed initially, mentioning sales revenue (which can encompass copies sold and microtransaction revenue), but its staying power fell off a cliff, leading to potentially lukewarm overall sales, although Ubisoft never confirmed (nor denied) how well the game sold.
The success of Black Flag Resynced all but confirms Ubisoft has found it’s own RE Remake formula, and will likely move forward with other similar projects in the near future. Chances are long-time fans of the series will get to see beloved icons like Altair and Ezio Auditore back.
