Wrestling fans were delighted to see WWE 2K during the initial Switch 2 Showcase, confirming that the iconic series is finally returning to a Nintendo platform. It turns out that we might be getting an entry sooner than expected, as there appear to be teasers for WWE 2K25 for Switch 2. The teasers are as subtle as a Triple H sledgehammer shot, so it’s pretty likely.
On the official WWE Games X account, a teaser video with the Judgment Day was released. Raquel Rodriguez, JD McDonagh, and Finn Balor talk about wrestlers feeling the group’s wrath from “anywhere around the globe.” The caption for this post also teases being ready to throw down anytime and anywhere, essentially teasing this game’s debut on Switch 2.
Previous leaks did seemingly confirm that WWE 2K25 was coming to Nintendo’s powerful handheld with a custom music feature, so this wasn’t too unexpected. Now that this system is stronger than a Steam Deck, it should be able to handle this series of games with no issues.
It’s also amusing to see the teaser act like this is the first time these games are playable on a handheld, since the Steam Deck has been able to run the most recent entries in the series.
Since this is a new version of WWE 2K25, we’re curious if The Island will be a part of this version. The feature was omitted from last-gen and PC versions, so it will be interesting to see if Nintendo’s handheld is capable of running it. Granted, it’s a feature that has split gamers, but there’s no denying its impact.
WWE 2K25 was released to fairly positive reviews, with critics praising the visuals, gameplay, and Showcase Mode. This game’s DLC has proven to be a bit controversial, cramming in plenty of celebrities while also including wrestlers from AEW and TNA. Since the game is most likely coming to Switch 2, we hope this is an Ultimate Edition that has all the DLC.
Expect this game to be released on a game-key card; we know how 2K and WWE can be.
