During an interview with Bloomberg back in May, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that it's tradition for Grand Theft Auto games to launch on console first, and that it's important to cater to their core audience first.

He stated, “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that, you're judged by serving the core. Like, really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn't there, if they're not served first and best, you kind of don't hit your other consumers.”

This is in line with how Rockstar has done it. They've always launched on console first, followed by a PC port later down the line.

This makes sense from a business perspective. By focusing on the platform where most of your core audience is, you ensure a critical reception once the game launches. Additionally, creating two sales waves is a lucrative strategy that ensures the game will sell well.

Releasing on PC on day one also opens up the floodgates to piracy and data mining, which can spoil it for other games. Overall, it's safer for Rockstar Games to prioritize consoles at launch.

Currently, there's no definite release date for when GTA 6 will release on PC. However, it will likely drop a year or two after the game's release. Once a PC release gets confirmed, we expect to see the game on both Steam and the Epic Game Store, given that Rockstar has favoured both storefronts recently.
