VALORANT is a first-person shooter that can give you and your friends endless fun, given that you don't become tilted. Some players enjoy casual fun in Unrated matches, others do their best to participate in Premier with their team, and some love the Competitive grind to reach the highest rank they can get in each Episode and Act.
While the game is fun, there are times when it can be frustrating due to the numerous cheaters that players can encounter in their games. In previous patches, there would only be a "Cheater Detected" red screen that could pop up anytime during the game when there is a cheater in the lobby. Personally, I have only encountered this screen once or twice since the initial release but it is still good to know that they can be detected (no matter how rare).
VALORANT released their patch notes for 10.05 on March 18. There were a lot of bug fixes for many of the agents, maps such as Breeze, and other aspects of the game such as the scores not updating in the friends list. The main highlight and what got most players excited would be the Ranked Rollbacks. However, there is a catch.
Ranked Rollbacks provide players with an RR refund if they lost a match against a confirmed cheater within the last week. If confirmed, players will get a pop-up notification that shows the exact amount of RR that can be refunded.
You will need to play a Competitive match before it can be applied to your current RR. It does not matter whether you win or lose the Ranked match you played as the refund will still apply to your total RR straight after.
The catch is, there is a limit or cap per Act for the RR refund. As a player myself, I am happy that at least something is being done for those who are affected by cheating in the game. We did not even get any RR rollbacks in the past when we encountered cheaters, so this is a huge improvement.
However, many of the players are frustrated and still feel that there should not be a cap altogether. Once the limit is reached, players will begin to lose RR again if they lose against any matches against cheaters. This is definitely not ideal since whether or not we encounter the "Cheater Detected" screen, there are still players who use cheats to their advantage.
The Ranked Rollback feature is something that should still be celebrated as the players got something that they have requested in the past. Since the feature is in the 10.05 patch, the Riot Games team can provide improvements should there be any adjustments needed.
