The Opening Night Live presentation at Gamescom 2026 was full of announcements, and The Witcher 3 capped it off. CD Projekt Red revealed a new trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered.
This is a free update that all base game owners will receive on Tuesday, September 29, and will massively improve the game-of-the-year-winning title with new features. Here is a list of some of the new features coming with the update:
- Upgraded visuals
- Enhanced combat
- Improved traversal and movement
- New Witcher signs FX
- Enhanced monster behaviors
- Revamped mount handling
- Revamped skill tree
- Expanded photo mode
- New finishers
This upgraded version will add support for new platforms and storefronts like the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Battle.net. You can watch the trailer for this upgrade below:
Miles Tost, the level design lead at CD Projekt Red, confirmed that all current owners of The Witcher 3 base game will receive the two previous expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, for free. This will help players to prepare for the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past.
A first teaser for the new DLC was also shown during the presentation, which gives us a taste of the new story.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past is scheduled to come out sometime in 2027 for all platforms.
