- Quick Answer: Games like Elden Ring, Zelda, and Resident Evil could easily translate into cozy spin-offs by focusing purely on their deep worldbuilding, resource gathering, and management mechanics.
There's no doubt that AAA games are incredibly fun, with the majority featuring gripping stories, engaging combat, and unique gameplay mechanics. But let's be honest - sometimes, they can become quite exhausting.
We spend hours getting beaten by demigods, fleeing from radioactive mutants, and stressing over our loadouts before heading into battle. Occasionally, we just want to have a more laid-back experience while still being able to appreciate the lore and graphics of a triple-A title.
Thankfully, there are some games that have remarkable worldbuilding and stories that could house a cozy mode. Intrigued to know what they are? Here are seven AAA titles that I believe desperately deserve a cozy spin-off.
Elden Ring
The Lands Between can be gorgeous... if you aren't constantly concerned about someone impaling you.

I imagine a cozy Elden Ring trades the boss fights with a landscape restoration sim. You take on the role of a Tarnished Gardener to heal the world. You can cultivate glowing Grace-lillies or nurse baby minor Erdtrees to health. Doesn't that sound both melancholic and beautiful? No more "You died" screens, please.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
My favorite part of Breath of the Wild wasn't fighting Calamity Ganon. It was actually building the community in Akkala. I genuinely believe it's possible to create a town simulator based on The Legend of Zelda.

You could work alongside Hudson and Bolson to build new modular settlements around Hyrule. Travel to different regions to gather materials and recruit villages from different tribes to help you as you build. A cozy Zelda game can be based on creativity, interior design, and community building.
Resident Evil 2
It might be surprising to hear that the world of Resident Evil could be a cozy game. But even legendary game director Hideki Kamiya can see it.

On X, Kamiya stated that he'd one day like to see a retired Leon Kennedy going fishing in the countryside. You'd be able to forage for wild vegetables, bake bread, walk the dog, tend to your home garden, and more. The best part? No zombies in sight.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
I'm aware of how notoriously hardcore Kingdom Come: Deliverance is. It's a medieval simulator set in 15th-century Bohemia where one rusty sword can lead to your demise. Despite how intense combat is, the area can actually be surprisingly peaceful.

A cozy Kingdom Come game can feature the player as an apprentice apothecary with a shop in a quiet village. Instead of learning to fight, you spend days foraging for marigolds, comfrey, wild berries, and more herbs. The hardest thing to do is pay attention to the soil and weather conditions to make sure your harvests are in peak condition.
Ghost of Tsushima
The story of Ghost of Tsushima is heartbreaking, yet the open world is so beautifully crafted. In the main game, your exploration is constantly interrupted by sword battles. I would love a game that lets you appreciate the beauty of Tsushima Island.

I want a cozy spin-off that focuses on the rich culture and artistic traditions. Perhaps you can be a monk or retired warrior journeying through the island, discovering serene spots to write poetry, practice calligraphy, and restore old shrines and hot springs. You can dye kimonos, play the flute, compose haikus, and meditate under autumn foliage.
Monster Hunter
Haven't you wondered about the people keeping the village running while the hunters are out risking their lives against beasts?

Monster Hunter can create a cozy management spin-off and control an adorable team of Palicoes. Your job is to manage the sprawling hub. You harvest the plants, catch giant fish, and even play in comfy kitchen mini-games. It's high-energy, packed with adorable creatures without worrying about the beasts.
BioShock
Before the collapse of the Rapture and the civil war tore the metropolia apart, the area was a literal utopia. I can imagine a cozy Bioshock game focusing on the golden age of the Rapture, devoid of the splicers and the dystopian ruin.

Instead, you'd play as a marine botanist in Arcade. Your job? Keep the underwater paradise blooming and the elite breathing. It would be a greenhouse management sim, where you spend your days crossbreeding flora, tending to the plants, and designing your greenhouse in whatever way you wish. It will be atmospheric and stress-free.
