Among Us 3D is coming, and Innersloth is giving the classic a first-person twist for a more immersive ride.
First released as Among Us VR in 2022, this version is now branching out beyond virtual reality.
Cross-play between PC and VR players is set to make Among Us 3D a more dynamic and accessible multiplayer experience. Forget the top-down view—Among Us 3D places players right in the action, seeing through the eyes of a crewmate or impostor. The rebranding to Among Us 3D means players on Steam PC, Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO can all play together (no strings attached).
VR was once a must, but now PC players can access the same immersive experience without any extra hardware. Everything from Among Us VR, like proximity voice chat, interactive tasks, and customization options, is coming along. According to the development team, new roles, game modes, and collaborations are on the way. Though specifics on future updates are yet to be revealed, Innersloth has confirmed that Among Us 3D will receive ongoing updates and new features.
However, while among Us 3D supports full cross-play between PC and VR, it won’t work with the original 2D version. The 3D version's first-person mechanics is way different from the original’s top-down view, so cross-play just won’t work. Still, players across various VR and PC platforms will be able to experience the same gameplay.
For anyone curious, the demo will be available during Steam Next Fest, happening February 24 to March 3, 2025. This preview gives you a quick look at the first-person experience, but not all the features will be there at launch.
You can wishlist the game on Steam to stay in the loop when it drops (the release date is still TBA, but it is expected to drop soon).
