- Quick Answer: Strinova is a free-to-play anime hero shooter featuring a unique "stringification" mechanic that allows players to flatten into 2D paper to glide, evade, and stick to walls.
I consider myself quite the shooter game enthusiast. While Valorant is my game of choice, I've played other titles like Apex Legends, PUBG, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Delta Force - if it's popular (and free), I've likely played it.
However, the most unique one I've played has to be Strinova. This one is a more underrated title, and you've likely never heard of it, but it's one of the few shooter games that came out in recent years that I've genuinely enjoyed. Not only does it feel calmer than other games, but it also features a unique mechanic I've never seen other shooter games implement.
Want to know what I mean? Let's discuss.
Strinova Is The Best Underrated Shooter Game I've Played in A While
Most shooter games I've played feature ultra-sweaty lobbies that stress me out. Almost every mistake you make is greeted with toxic players unmuting their mics to cuss you out, which only causes you to rank down. But you know what? When I played Strinova, I felt calm. I never knew I could feel that way playing a shooter.

Perhaps it's the anime style of the game. The characters are cute, and the maps are colorful - nothing in Strinova screams "danger" despite being a shooter game. Despite that, it features tactical team objectives and distinct roles, much like traditional shooters. As I played, it felt like the best of both worlds - I was able to play a game that felt bright and energetic while still curbing my shooter-game itch.

But what really caught my eye about Strinova was this unique 2D-to-3D mechanic. With a single button press, your character "Stringifies" or turns into a flattened 2D sheet of paper. This allows you to stick to walls, slip through narrow areas, and even float like a paper glider. It also becomes so much harder to shoot you - once you turn sideways, you're as thin as paper.

I remember how shocked I was when my character went from 3D waifu to 2D doll. I watched as an enemy bullet whizzed past me because of how skinny I became. It added an extra layer of fun in the game. Oh, you're trying to shoot me while I'm on the roof? Watch me turn into paper and glide away to the opposite side of the map. Oh, you're trying to kill me so you can stop the payload? I am literally going to turn 2D and cling to the truck for dear life.

The fact that I can shift from 2D to 3D meant I could be more creative with my plays - something I wasn't doing with Valorant. In Valorant, I was relying on aim and line-ups. I'm extremely pleased to find a game where I can go wild with how I play.
Strinova has become the perfect shooter game for me when I want something to unwind, but not commit to a farming sim or otome game. I love not having to deal with sweaty toxicity and enjoying a shooting game that's just pure, unadulterated fun. The only thing missing is a friend to play it with. If that's you, hit me up.
