Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had a mixed reaction from FPS fans, and that’s putting it lightly. Many gamers have been negative about the current direction of this shooter, as it goes back to an Advanced Warfare-style pseudo-future. One of those gamers is FPS legend Shroud, who is unimpressed with the trailer shown off during Gamescom Opening Night.
As seen in the Shroud Updates account, the influencer wasn’t very happy with what he saw in the Black Ops 7 trailer. Due to the game’s futuristic setting and use of robots, he was quick to compare the game to EA’s disastrous Battlefield 2042. It seems the trippy nightmare fuel scenes and wall-running sequences didn’t help with that either.
While Shroud did praise the use of Metallica’s Master of Puppets in the trailer, it seems that was the only positive thing he could say about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Aside from constant comparisons to Battlefield 2042, the pre-order bonuses with wacky skins didn’t change his opinion at all. The influencer even said, "I think Battlefield may have won their first year ever" after seeing this trailer.
Battlefield 6 fans were already clowning on Call of Duty for being more like Fortnite in recent years, and this trailer just made them more boastful. It seems that this trailer might be doing business for EA, as many players are now saying they will get BF6 after watching that supposed showcase for Black Ops 7.
Needless to say, it looks like most fans are down on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 right now, and it will be interesting to see how the game does in reviews. There is a beta coming, so chances are that some players will check it out and maybe even enjoy this shooter. We also think this game is an easy contender for gaming history revisionism, as fans are also more positive about 2042 and Advanced Warfare these days.
