Is the wait for GTA 6 becoming unbearable? Then you might want to take a look at Samson.
Samson is an upcoming open-world game that is inspired by Grand Theft Auto, Sleeping Dogs, Driver, and the Just Cause titles. It was first unveiled in 2025 and is set to release imminently, which is good news for those wanting to play something similar to GTA in the meantime.
Here's everything we know about Samson.
What Is Samson About?
Set in the city of Tyndalston, you play as the character Samson, a man knee-deep in debt. In an effort to get money quickly, you can take on shady jobs, get into fights, and commit crimes.

Unlike GTA, which allows you to engage in gun-fighting, Samson focuses more on exploration. Think driving fast cars and running away from travel. All the fighting is also done through melee combat, which is a stark difference from GTA.

Samson is set to launch on PC on April 8, 2026. Console ports have been confirmed, but no official release date has been set. On Steam, the game will retail for $24.99.
Is Samson Rivaling GTA 6?
Despite taking inspiration from the GTA franchise, it is not meant to rival the game series. Instead, it serves as a companion, a game to play while waiting for GTA or if you're craving something new without drifting too far apart from that genre.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Christofer Sundbuger (founder of Liquid Swords and Avalanche Studios) stated, "There are times when you want to put GTA down and pick up something else. I see Samson as being like back in the day when action movies were 90 minutes long, not over two hours. I think there's a space for us there, and that's where I want to end up."

So don't consider Samson as a GTA copy - that's a disservice to how amazing the game looks even in screenshots and trailers. Instead, consider it as something you can play alongside (or while waiting) for GTA 6.
