It looks like Capcom is going all out with its iconic survival horror franchise. Rumors suggest that Resident Evil 9 will be revealed this week, specifically during Summer Game Fest: Opening Night Live with Geoff Keighley.
Speculation began circulating after prominent Capcom leaker Dusk Golem posted a series of tweets on X (formerly Twitter), indicating that Capcom is preparing for the imminent announcement of Resident Evil 9, the latest installment in the long-running horror series.
In our previous Resident Evil 9 report, we highlighted how Dusk Golem claimed Leon Kennedy would return as the main character. He also mentioned that the game would move away from an open-world structure in favor of large, limited areas. Additionally, according to Dusk Golem, the game may not include the number “9” in its title, possibly opting for something like Resident Evil: Apocalypse, a name that current rumors seem to support.
In his tweets, Dusk Golem reiterated that Capcom can’t afford another delay for Resident Evil 9, as it has already been postponed twice: once during the COVID-19 pandemic and again afterward. Originally intended for a Summer 2024 or Early 2025 reveal, the game now looks like it is slated for release in 2026.
Summer Game Fest is the ideal stage for Capcom to unveil what they’ve been working on with Resident Evil 9. It’s expected to be one of the event’s major world premieres, potentially on par with CD Projekt Red’s rumored Witcher 4 or Witcher Remake reveals.
