It seems like a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster is all but confirmed, with fans everywhere just waiting for Rockstar Games to announce it. This speculation was tripled when John Marston actor Rob Wiethoff teased that something was coming this week. Now, Wiethoff is regretting that tease, seemingly taking back what he said on social media.
On his YouTube channel, Wiethoff said that he may have “misled” some people about a big announcement coming this week. While Wiethoff is still excited about this supposed news, the actor said he does not make announcements for Rockstar Games. The actor then reminded fans that Rockstar won’t use him to make game-related announcements.
Before this, it seemed like plenty of people were down to tease a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster. Aside from Wiethoff’s comments, Arthur Morgan actor Roger Clark responded to a fan asking about the potential remaster with a meme that seemingly showed he was aware of it. He could have been joking, but Clark hasn’t taken down this meme reaction.
With no major game shows happening this week, the chances of this remaster getting announced seem pretty slim. Granted, the original Red Dead Redemption got a random re-release on Switch and PS4 a few years ago, so anything can happen. This version also ended up on PC, though the second game doesn’t need to re-debut on that platform.
Although Red Dead Redemption 2 still looks good and is more than playable, a remaster would give fans another reason to replay this title. For one thing, a remaster on PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 would mean better textures and higher definition, not to mention 60 FPS. It would also distract fans from the lack of GTA 6 news, as the game has been delayed to 2026.
There were also rumors that a GTA 4 remaster would be coming. Fans would also appreciate that, since this entry is only available on PC nowadays. Only time will tell if Niko and his bowling-hungry cousin will ever return on modern systems.
