After some Dev Dives from Treyarch talking about changes to multiplayer, post-launch content, and answering some questions about Zombies, Raven Software has also put out a short post talking about what we can expect from Warzone in the coming months.
First off, the developers stated that they haven't taken the necessary steps to support having multiple large maps in rotation. Even before the re-release of Verdansk, the game has only had one large map at a time, denying users from having variety in that regard.
This improvement is set to launch at the start of next year. We expect the next large map to arrive in the game to be Avalon, the venue of the campaign's last mission, and a map that was originally set to release during the Black Ops 6 post-launch year.
Map rotation is also coming back to the smaller maps designed for Resurgence, as Rebirth Island is set to still be available once Haven's Hollow launches with the Black Ops 7 integration in Season 1.
Raven also revealed that the upcoming Blackout experience is set to release in Season 2. Although not much information about this has been revealed, we expect this to be a new mode with features from Treyarch's first attempt at the battle royale genre. The experience will take place in the same Avalon map.
A release date for Season 2 is hard to predict at the moment, but based on previous years, we can expect it to begin sometime in February 2026.
Raven concluded their post by promising more information and a first look at some of the things they are working on in the coming days.
Black Ops 7 is scheduled to release on Friday, November 14th, for all platforms. However, the Warzone integration will not occur until Season 1 launches, which is expected to arrive sometime in December.
