Announcing DLC before the base game is out might feel anti-consumer, but it's nonetheless interesting to see what Mega Dimension will bring to Pokemon Legends Z-A.

As controversial as it is, the recent trailer for the expansion is nothing short of hype. Let's see what we know so far from the newly-released clip.

What Were The Things Shown In The Pokemon Legends Z-A's Mega Dimension Trailer?

The trailer showed us tons of new theme and gameplay information like a new, mysterious dimension and new Mega Evolutions. We even saw Pokemon from the Paldea region running around the hyperspace dimension with power levels that go beyond what we know about Pokemon. The trailer also showed a free Side Mission with a reward of an extremely rare item and the possibility of acquiring an even rarer Pokemon.

Another Lumiose?

The center of the Mega Dimension DLC trailer is the alternate dimension of Lumiose that looks hyper-futuristic and chromatic. It's like Pokemon meets Matrix. The trailer also introduces Ansha, a strange kid who apparently loves to bake donuts and mysteriously appeared with a Hoopa, who seems to be the guide or the reason we'll enter this terrifying version of Kalos and other pocket spaces.

Appearing mysteriously beside Ansha are dimensional rifts around the Lumiose City we are familiar with. So the questions start to rise. Who is Ansha? Why is she with a Hoopa? Why is there a mirror dimension of Lumiose? Why are there other trainers inside this other dimensoion? Questions that will be answered very soon!

Beyond A Hundred

One of the most surprising things that the trailer showed us are Pokemon inside the hyperspace dimension are over level 100. From Pokemon Green, Blue, and Red up until Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the level limit of Pokemon is 100. So seeing a Level 142 Annihilape or Level 164 Alolan Marowak sends shivers to our bones, months ahead of the DLC's release.

From what we have gathered from the trailer, the donuts you bake with Ansha actually play a role in reaching these insane power levels and you'll be monitoring some kind of calorie system to check how much longer you can stay in the dimension. People are already saying that this is breaking tradition but who know, it might just work.

Korrina, The Stone Collector?

A delightful part of the trailer is when it showed Korrina. If you're not familiar, Korrina is the Shalour City Gym Leader from Kalos, the region that Pokemon Legends Z-A is set in. Korrina was first introduced in Pokemon X and Y and her surprise return in Legends Z-A is just exciting and nothing short of nostalgic.

In the trailer, she is also shown to be wearing a suit that allows her to carry tens of Mega Stones. It looks weird and awesome at the same time. Some fans are even calling her the Thanos of Pokemon due to her seeming addiction to Mega Stone collecting as Mega Stone guru. It's exciting to speculate what her participation in the DLC is going to be and if we'll see her trusty Mega Lucario once again.

New Megas, But...

One thing that we can guarantee fans are waiting to be revealed are new Mega Evolutions and the trailer did not disappoint while it kind of did. Two new Pokemon got the Mega Evolution treatment and those Pokemon are the adorable Chimecho and the kaiju-inspired Baxcalibur. Mega Chimecho now gets a circular, metallic protrusion in its body with mini versions of itself that when interacted with each other, create sound-based attacks. It also fittingly gets that Psychic and Steel typing.

Now, undeniably, the more exciting announcement is Mega Baxcalibur with its sharper and sleeker look. The Mega Form's back sword is bigger but it now looks like Baxcalibur is impaled with it. Awesome, right? But... it's Mega Stone can only be unlocked in by participating in Ranked Battle Season 4. So if you don't have Nintendo Switch Online, don't even dream of getting it.

The initial release date of Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC was February of next year but the trailer actually announced that the official release date will be a month from now, December 10, 2025, to be exact. This is an exciting change in schedule since the holidays is the perfect time to explore this new world and unravel the mysteries of Ansha, Hoopa, and "Not Lumiose".

Before the trailer ended, Pokemon also gave a bonus content for us to munch on while waiting for the DLC which is a free Diancite, the Mega Evolution Stone for Diancie, that you can claim via Mystery Gift (On the menu, click Link Play then select Mystery Gift. Next, click Get Via Internet to receive the Diancite).

The best thing about this Mystery Gift is it isn't just an item as it has a side mission that goes along with it. A side mission that will cross your paths with the glamorous Diancie and make it a part of your team.
