This iteration is a mobile game, and players can "experience a living, growing, and occasionally chaotic celebration of plants, strategy, and the fine art of keeping zombies out of houses," as per their blog post.
What to Expect in Plants vs Zombies 3: Evolved
Plants vs Zombies 3: Evolved will still have its original gameplay: using plants to take down zombies on your front lawn so they can't enter the house to eat the humans' brains.

This lane-based tower defense game does have some changes, however. You can now merge plants to make a wild and wacky new addition to your battle roster. There is a zombie, Dr. Zomboss, who is trying to take Crazy Dave's special meteorite that he uses to merge plants - it's up to you to take him down.

Plants vs Zombies 3: Evolved released a Seeding Build last fall, and certain changes were made since that time. The levels are expected to be longer, and there will be additional levels to help you learn more about your plants.
The option to have avatars was removed, while a mechanic where you could interact with the neighborhood has also been removed, focusing on the OG setting: the lawn.
Currently, it is unknown when the game will officially launch worldwide.
