Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 5 is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 6, at 11:00 AM PT. This is the respective start time for each time zone:

New Hero: Doctrine

As revealed in a new animated trailer, Doctrine is the next hero joining the game. The 54th playable character will be part of the Support lineup, and he is already in the game, available as part of a test weekend.

You can watch the reveal trailer below, where Doomfist, Sombra, Reaper, and Widowmaker break him out of prison:

For those who haven't tried him in game, you can read about his kit and perks in the following image:

Hero Reworks (Sombra and Roadhog)

Speaking of Sombra, two heroes are getting reworks at the start of Season 5. For starters, Sombra is getting a full role switch and she's joining the Support lineup. Her kit will be adjusted to include healing in her abilities, but she will retain some abilities like the Translocator.

Roadhog is also getting a minor rework, receiving a brand-new ability called Trash Compactor, which will allow him to absorb enemy projectiles to compact them in a ball of scrap.

Both heroes' new kits are outlined in the following image:

New Map: Watchpoint: Grímsvötn

A brand-new Escort map called Watchpoint: Grímsvötn is coming to the game with the new season. This is the same volcanic prison where Doctrine was held captive, and it's located in Iceland.

The map should be available in both casual and competitive from the start of the season, although losses on this map should result in a reduced SR loss given that it's a new location.

Skins and Cosmetics

Although we still have to wait to know more about the skins the new season will offer on its battle pass and the shop, one lineup has already been revealed.

The season will introduce new Dokiwatch skins into the shop for Mercy, Anran, Freja, Lifeweaver, Illari, and Ramattra, with the last one being an Ultra rarity skin. You can check out below the concept arts for all five skins:

It's unclear how each one of these skins will be unlockable, as the first wave had some skins in the shop and some in the battle pass.
