  • Primary Subject: Monster Hunter Wilds (Post–Title Update 2, One Year After Launch)
  • Key Update: One year after launch, Seregios remains widely viewed as Monster Hunter Wilds’ most frustrating and artificially difficult endgame monster.
  • Status: Confirmed
  • Last Verified: January 29, 2026
  • Quick Answer: Seregios is still considered Monster Hunter Wilds’ most frustrating monster due to its relentless aggression, Bleed mechanics, and poor balance against slower weapon loadouts.

Seregios is Monster Hunter Wilds’ most frustrating fight. Ever since it launched alongside Lagiacrus in Title Update 2, this monster has been a thorn in my side for the past few months, causing multiple quest failures.

That said, this is not me saying everything about it is bad, but the game can be pretty frustrating at times. Slaying Omega Planetes with a team of randoms who don’t know what they are doing and not hitting Gogmazios with the correct elements are some of my major gripes.

The Challenge of a 9-Star Seregios

A 9-Star Seregios is hard. This is coming from someone who has slain Omega Planetes multiple times and made mincemeat out of a 9-Star Gore Magala.

For context, 9-Star monsters are the hardest endgame content in Wilds; they deal immense damage and come with bigger health pools. I’ve taken down most of them with barely any effort. And still, whenever I need a Seregios Dissenter (its most coveted drop), it becomes the bane of my existence to hunt it all over again.

Seregios’ sheer aggressiveness is not built for a Hammer main like me. Having to time my swings right just isn’t enough when this kind of monster doesn’t stop moving. Whenever it enrages, it’s like an eagle overdosed on Adderall, relentlessly swiping claws that inflict Bleed.

Why Bleed Turns Seregios Into a Nightmare for Hunters

Now this is where it becomes a major problem. Bleed has long been a staple of Seregios’ moves. It is a status effect that saps away your health with every move. Normally, hunters use remedies like Rations (yes, it works) and other stocked-up steaks in their inventory.

Alternatively, if they got none of these items, then crouching for 2-3 seconds removes them, but it exposes you to the full might of the angry eagle. Real hunters equip armor and jewels with Bleed Resistance, but most don’t even care to put it in their builds.

So, picture this: an angry Seregios and a team with random teammates with little to no Bleed Resistance is a recipe for disaster. I’ve seen countless Hunters stuck in a crouching position for five seconds so they could simply remove the Bleed effect. If one Hunter with an unchecked Bleeding even dares to move, then that’s another dead Hunter waiting to happen.

But why am I saying all this, you ask? It goes without saying that Wilds’ roster of monsters is nothing but fantastic; even less-than-favorable ones like Rompopolo and Lala Barina are great additions. Seregios, on the other hand, feels like it doesn’t belong in a game like Monster Hunter Wilds. Everything about it feels off; from its aggressive moveset and bleed status effect, it feels more like a FromSoftware boss than a Monster Hunter monster.

Against loadouts that require slow movement with barely any defense, Seregios is a chore. Everything about it exists only to create artificial difficulty with barely any challenge. I had to change my loadout to a less-than-ideal choice for me, like the Bow or Longsword.

Rise’s Seregios was not even that hard. It was annoying, sure, but its incessant flying was balanced with the Wirebug System. In Wilds, fighting Seregios is not fun, and I always try to avoid quests involving it.

With Monster Hunter Wilds’ expansion coming soon, I hope future updates move away from monsters designed to frustrate rather than challenge players.
