- Quick Answer: The Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gamescom 2026 trailer revealed new details about combat, the iconic Weapons, and a unique submarine boss fight.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation had a quick appearance at Gamescom 2026, but what a trailer it was! As many predicted, Square Enix is saving massive reveals for Tokyo Game Show this September, but Geoff Keighley blessed us with a new look at combat and the iconic Weapons we’ll get to face once Spring 2027 rolls around.
The trailer really showcases Weapons as giant behemoths determined to wipe out every possible threat to the planet. Even if Cloud, Tifa, and the rest of the gang are looking to stop Sephiroth from dropping a meteor on the world, the confrontation that ensues has them in their sights as well—leading the squad to make the tough call to face them directly.

Small glimpses of more ground combat and FITS were shown, as well as the Typhoon summon. The biggest takeaway was the underwater Weapon boss fight, which will see us control a submarine. The teaser ends with a confrontation against a Weapon while onboard the Highwind. It was cinematic, but I’m hoping it leads to a proper gameplay sequence.
Take a look at the trailer below:
As a reminder, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to come out in Spring 2027. It’ll be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, featuring a simultaneous multiplatform release this time around.
