Monster Hunter Wilds has got off to a flying start following its highly anticipated release, claiming top spot in the UK sales charts last week.
It comes after Capcom's latest RPG cracked the Top 10 list of games with the highest concurrent peak users on Steam, surpassing titles like Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, Marvel Rivals, and Helldivers 2.
Despite launching just a few days ago, Monster Hunter Wilds is already on track to follow up its predecessor with more sales than the franchise has ever seen, and that's without digital purchases being accounted for!
While the numbers may seem staggering at first, its successful launch is perhaps no surprise considering the hype it has been producing over the past few months. The Monster Hunter games have always been a huge hit with players, especially since Monster Hunter: World left a lasting impression back in 2018.
Combine the franchise's prior success with the positive reviews that have dominated Monster Hunter Wilds, and its sales success is completely understandable.
Gfinity's very own Feliciano Mondigo III described Monster Hunter Wilds as "the perfect hunt," explaining that it represents the "franchise’s best evolution yet" before rewarding it with a perfect 10/10 score.
Although the majority of those who have purchased and played Monster Hunter Wilds so far will likely be revisiting players, another reason for its initial success could well be down to the fact that it's a beginner-friendly experience, welcoming plenty of new gamers for the very first time as a result.
Nevertheless, Capcom will be both happy and relieved that Monster Hunter Wilds has enjoyed such a positive start to life, hopefully giving it the platform to grow and potentially become one of the company's biggest successes to date.
