Monster Hunter Wilds Players Are Struggling to Obtain This Elusive Item

As Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4 revitalizes its endgame, many players are returning to hunt Wilds’ impressive catalog of ferocious monsters. Gogmazios, being one of the game’s latest enemy and the first Elder Dragon introduced, is a cinematic sight. However, the renewed grind has also highlighted a growing frustration within the community: the elusive Wartorn Dragongem.

What are the Rarest Materials in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Since Title Update 4, the rarest materials in Monster Hunter Wilds are Monster Gems. These have a drop rate below 5%, but it can be boosted more when taken on Investigation Hunts.

It’s not particularly stated in the in-game stats, but there’s a higher chance of getting a Monster Gem like Rathalos Ruby, Arkveld Gem, or Wartorn Dragongems from monster carves. Capturing monsters reduces that chance, as it removes your chance to get three manual carves from a monster.

Another rare material would be Oricalcites, Hunter Ticket III, and limited event vouchers. That said, these can always be dropped in regular hunts, whereas Monster Gems require specific monsters to slay.

What Makes Wartorn Dragongem Important?

The Wartorn Dragongem is an important material because it’s used to ‘Transcend’ armors beyond their base potential. Each of Gogmazios’ armor parts requires a single Wartorn Dragongem if you want to maximize its defensive capabilities. Additionally, it’s also used to reinforce Gogma Artian Weapons, but I recommend against using it since it’s incredibly rare.

What the Community Thinks about this Elusive Gem

The grind has always been a major part of Monster Hunter, as Wilds finally revamped its endgame systems, making it more enjoyable compared to its launch state. Monster hunts are more difficult, and weapons and armor are now highly customizable thanks to Gogmazios.

Hunters who’ve hunted Gogmazios more than 10 times reportedly haven’t found their Wartorn Dragongems yet. In my own experience, I’ve only seen a single Wartorn Dragongem drop since launch, despite hunting Gogmazios more than five times. Others, who just slain the beast from a mere SOS quest, surprisingly got one. This left some members of the community jealous, but they know they can only blame RNG for its abysmal drop rate.

It’s not a major community problem that ruins the game. In fact, it’s a return to the classic Monster Hunter formula, where players had to constantly grind to get the materials they want, rather than Capcom just handing them over on a silver platter. Frustrating, yes, but this is Monster Hunter at its best.
