There are tons of armor sets and weapons that players can use in Monster Hunter Wilds, but these are not the only pieces of equipment that are useful when going out on quests. Various accessories and consumables can be used during battle, including the mantles that can be worn.

There are many types of mantles in Monster Hunter Wilds, some of which are the Ghillie Mantle, Mending Mantle, and in this guide, the Rocksteady Mantle. These have varying effects that can be used strategically against monsters, or if you're like me, something you wear to make yourself feel a little safer when going up against them.

What is the Rocksteady Mantle?

The Rocksteady Mantle is one of the mantles that players can get in the game. This can be equipped during exploration or missions by scrolling through the quick slots on the bottom right of the screen.

Mantle

This mantle allows you to face the monsters without worrying about being knocked back or taking heavy damage for a period of time. It removes all the damage interactions, including wind effects, gain tremor resistance, and even removes the stun when the monsters roar. Of course, there is a limit when using mantles so be wary when its usage is depleted.

How to Get the Rocksteady Mantle

Unlike the Ghillie Mantle that is available for players from the start, the Rocksteady Mantle requires you to complete the quest Black Flame: Long-forgotten Flame by the end of Chapter 2.

You will have to go back to Azuz and talk to Werner in the previous quest, A Disquieting Dawn. After completing that, this quest becomes available. Make sure that you have upgraded your gear with better stats before proceeding as it can be challenging. You could also change your layered armor if you want to fight in style.

Once you are geared up, you will need to repel the Ajarakan. It would be best to have some cool drinks in your quick slots as the battle environment can get you heated up. When facing the Ajarakan during the hunt, it will ignite itself, which indicates that their attacks will be enhanced. Make sure to dodge its incoming attacks as best as you can and have some potions in hand if you are hit. After defeating the Ajarakan in the Ajarakan Ablaze Assignment Quest, head back to Azuz.

Nu Udra

After returning, a monster will emerge from the forge. This is known as "The Black Flame" or Nu Udra. You will need to hunt it down during the mission. As with any monster, defeating Nu Udra may prove to be difficult. Once again, it is best to have a cool drink so you won't have to think too much about the damage from the heat.

If you are unable to complete the hunt the first time, make sure to re-strategize and check your armor and weapon. You may need to craft quite a few cool drinks, health potions, and anything that can boost your stats.

Once you have completed the hunt, you will need to return to the base camp in Windward Plains and talk to Gemma. She will then provide you with the Rocksteady Mantle.
