Monster Hunter Wilds lets you take on various quests to face monsters and potentially get amazing loot. You will need to craft equipment such as your weapon and armor to help you take down or catch them. However, not everything is about strength and stats; sometimes, you just want your character to look awesome and be able to fight with style.

In this guide, you will learn how to equip layered armor in Monster Hunter Wilds, allowing you to change the appearance of your character.

How to Equip Layered Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

First, you must go to the base or pop-up camp and head to your personal tent to access the armor menu. Scroll through the menu until you are on the appearance tab on the far right. After that, select 'Equipment Appearance'.

Here, you will see the layered armor for each part of your character's body. The parts that are customizable include the Head, Chest, Arms, Waist, Legs, Undershirt, Tights, and two Pendant slots. Press on each part to access the menu which shows the various armors you may wear and select the one you would like for your character. Just make sure that you already crafted the armor or costume you want to put on to avoid going back and forth.

If you are wondering why the armor you put on is not showing, it just means that it is still disabled. This is usually the case when it is your first time visiting the layered armor menu. The button on the right of each armor part must be yellow, which enables the layered armor. You may choose to disable any of the parts as you wish, which means that it would show the default starter outfit. Disabling the layered armor does not disable the stats of your armor, so if you want to show off your starter outfit while defeating various High-Rank monsters, then be my guest!

Other than selecting the armor you want, there are also the color settings. This is located on the right of the enable or disable button. This would allow you to change the colors of the first and second pigments of the layered armor, which provides your hunter with a more unique look. You will have the freedom to choose the color from the palette or try out the preset colors at the bottom of the menu. There is also the option to change the hue, saturation, and brightness of the colors to provide more customization.

Now, even when you get fresh armor for a new set that you want to try out, your character's appearance would remain the same but the stats would be different as you are using the layered armor. You can even take on battles against Nu Udra in the starter outfit just to show off.
