Marvel Rivals is about to close its first post-launch year with Season 5.5, the mid-season update for the fifth season. This is set to add more new content, including a brand-new hero and someone Gambit is very fond of.
While we wait for the new content to go live, we have gathered all the information we have at the moment so you can get up to speed and plan your weekend.
When Does Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 Come Out?
Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 is scheduled to come out on Friday, December 12th, for all platforms. A maintenance period will begin at 1:00 AM PT (9:00 AM GMT), and it's set to last between two to three hours.
During this downtime, players will be able to download the mid-season patch. However, users will have to wait until the maintenance is over to start enjoying the new content.
The second half of the season is expected to last around a month, ending sometime in January 2026 to allow for a new season to begin.

New Hero: Rogue
One of the major additions for this second half will be Rogue, the X-Men member and partner of Gambit. She will be the 45th playable hero in the game, and we got a first look at her design on the Season 5 cinematic, which you can see below:
Team-Ups
Here are all the Team-Up changes that are coming with this mid-season update:
- Mental Projection: Getting removed.
- Chilling Assault: Emma Frost will join Iron Fist and Luna Snow. She can slow enemies with a cone of ice, and while in diamond mode, she can create a wall of diamonds.
- Sword of Duality: Psylocke joins Cloak and Dagger and Hawkeye. With light energy, she can throw a returning shuriken that damages enemies and heals allies. Psylocke gets healed based on the number of targets hit when she gets the shuriken back. With dark energy, she can enter a phase state and damage enemies nearby.
- Explosive Entanglement: Rogue joins Magneto and Gambit. When she activates the ability, every attack she makes damages enemies and heals allies around her.
New Map
The Jeff's Winter Special mode from last year returns and will take place in a new map called Jeffland. The map and mode are scheduled to come out on Thursday, December 18, at 1:00 AM PT (9:00 AM GMT).
Other Details
Here are other minor details that we can point out about the second half so you don't miss out on anything:
- Many festive skins are coming to the game, as shown in the developer video.
- All the holiday events kick off after the December 18 update.
- A new mystery burger will be added to Pym's Test Kitchen in the Times Square social map. The effects of eating this mystery burger are unknown.
