Its name in-game isn't actually Bingus. Its name is KAL1 (pronounced Kal-Li), but it earned the name Bingus from fans after it was first revealed. The reason why is unclear, but fans have started adoringly calling the cat Bingus, and it is now considered a mascot within the Marathon community.
