Hogwarts Legacy 2 Is Official, but Re-Exploring the Castle Feels Pointless

I've been a Potterhead ever since I was young. It's the book and movie series that defined my childhood.

I had all the books, my own wand, a robe, even a limited-edition Harry Potter doll. I was dedicated. Though I'm not as much of a fanatic as I was back then, it still has a special place in my heart. That's why, when Hogwarts Legacy was released in 2023, I had to get my hands on it.

It was everything I ever wanted as a gamer. I went to class, learned potions, and even got the Quidditch DLC. For me, it's the perfect Harry Potter game. So when I heard that a sequel is officially in the works, I was confused - why create a sequel to perfection?

I Don't See the Point in a Hogwarts Legacy Sequel

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development. And honestly? I'm not entirely sure why.

I remember how excited I was to play Hogwarts Legacy. Walking through the Great Hall, exploring the castle, and learning how to duel in the game healed my inner child - I knew this was the closest I would get to entering Hogwarts.

The first game ticked every box on my checklist and satisfied that craving of being a witch. But while I was extremely hyped for the first Hogwarts Legacy, the announcement of a sequel leaves me feeling cold. It's not like I can discover the same castle twice for the first time.

I can't see how they can build something better than the first game. It had every aspect of the Wizarding World that I wanted to experience - Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest, even the Room of Requirement. Unless they can take us to more places outside of the school - like the Weasleys' home or Malfoy Manor - then I wouldn't even bother.

Then again, the chances of that are slim. The game is called Hogwarts Legacy, after all.

Another way to make the sequel better would be to have the player advance past the fifth year and take their N.E.W.T.S classes. Have us prepare to be wizards outside of Hogwarts. Prepare us to be Aurors or some other wizard job. Have us leave Hogwarts from time to time.

Unless Warner Bros. is brave enough to let us explore the rest of the Wizarding World, then I'll stick to playing the first Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy, thank you very much.
