Kratos’ adventures are far from over. A recent leak suggests that his Greek-era exploits are getting a remaster for the PlayStation 5.
Well-known gaming insider and leaker Jeff Grubb claims that a massive God of War reveal will be made this March, in celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
He believes this could be the long-rumored God of War Remastered Collection.
The leak gained further traction as more users hinted that an announcement is just around the corner. Krista Feranka, an artist known for his work on the Spider-Verse movies, posted on Blue Sky that he’s creating an Odin art piece for the game’s 20th-anniversary event next month.
His post even included the game’s logo, which is divided between the two Omega icons representing the Greek and Norse eras of the series.

What’s Inside the Box?
The Remastered Collection could bring back Kratos’ classic Greek-era adventures, potentially including the original God of War trilogy, the PlayStation Portable titles (Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta), and even God of War: Ascension, the often-overlooked entry in the series.
Is it just a Regular Remaster?
It’s unclear how extensive this remaster will be, but it’s certainly not a full remake — that would require significant time, money, and resources from Sony. Instead, it may be an HD remaster similar to what Santa Monica Studio did with God of War III Remastered on the PlayStation 4.
Speculation
Bundling all six games into a single massive collection would be an unexpected move from Sony. A more feasible approach might be splitting them into two volumes:
- Volume 1: The original trilogy — God of War, God of War II, and God of War III.
- Volume 2: The two PlayStation Portable prequels — Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta — with Ascension as the centerpiece. A well-executed remaster of Ascension could also bring back its underrated multiplayer mode.
If Sony does release all six games in one collection, expect a significantly higher price than $40. A collector’s edition featuring all the games stored inside a replica of Pandora’s Box would be a fitting tribute to the original trilogy’s story.
For now, this is all speculation, but with Grubb’s claims, there’s a strong chance the series will return in some form for its 20th anniversary. Who knows? We might even get a tease for the next mainline God of War game, which is rumored to be set in Ancient Egypt.
