Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is fast approaching, and it can't come soon enough. While the FPS enjoyed a hugely successful launch, becoming the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States, a lack of content has seen player numbers sharply drop.

The good news is that a brand new season is on the horizon, bringing with it an array of fresh content, including maps, modes, weapons, vehicles, and much more.

So with that said, here's what's been confirmed for Battlefield 6 Season 2 so far!

Chemical Warfare in the Mountains of Germany

Launching February 17, Season 2 introduces high-intensity combat with the expansive map Contaminated and a grueling assault to reclaim a once-owned NATO airbase in the mountains of Germany, while VL-7 psychoactive smoke distorts the battlefield.

Arriving with Contaminated is a limited-time mode that expands Battlefield 6’s narrative and introduces a new element of tactics in the fight against Pax Armata. There’s more variety coming later in the season with a new high-intensity map and another limited-time mode that will require players to battle through an underground base covered in darkness.

AH-6 Little Bird Returns

That's right, the popular lightweight helicopter adored by Battlefield veterans is confirmed to be making its long-awaited comeback in Season 2! Very little is known about other potential vehicles that could be introduced, although rumors and the latest trailer suggest dirt bikes may also be returning.

New Weapons and Gadgets

While they are yet to be officially unveiled, three new weapons and at least two new gadgets are said to be on their way with Season 2.

Based on leaked footage from Battlefield Labs, the three weapons include the VCR-2 Assault Rifle, M121 A2 LMG, and GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle. As for gadgets, these will reportedly consist of new rocket launches, biohazard grenades, gas masks, and a drone gun, among others.

Major Updates and Fixes

In addition to new content, Season 2 brings a wide variety of updates and fixes to gameplay, progression, and more. Some of the key areas of improvement include:

  • Broader Challenge Parameters: Challenges have been streamlined by reducing the emphasis on highly mode-specific challenges, removing the daily sidearm challenge from regular rotation, and expanding criteria like allowing assists to count toward Daily Challenges.
  • Faster Battle Pass: Battle Pass progression has been adjusted to be more rewarding this season. This includes recalculating how Battle Pass Tokens are earned from Career XP, allowing you to earn progress more quickly through regular gameplay and Weekly Challenges.
  • More Rewarding Progression in REDSEC: Career XP and Weapon XP earn rates have been increased in Battle Royale and Gauntlet, helping progression feel more balanced between REDSEC and Battlefield 6 experiences.

  • Career Reward Rebalance: Career and Battle Pass Boosters were added to some earlier Career ranks, particularly to better support players who focus on REDSEC. This change helps progression feel meaningful even when standard Career unlocks, such as gadgets, throwables, and loadout slots, don’t provide direct benefits in Battle Royale or Gauntlet.
  • Weapon Balance and Recoil Improvements: Recoil compensation has been made fully consistent, resulting in more predictable and reliable weapon handling. Building on this, automatic weapons have received a broad tuning pass to reinforce role clarity and ensure weapons feel appropriately distinct across different combat distances.
  • Player Movement: Soldier movement has been improved to feel more predictable and readable in fast-paced combat. This includes updated acceleration curves, smoother vaulting and ladder transitions, and fixes that reduce visual inconsistencies or unexpected behavior during traversal and close-quarters interactions.
  • Audio Improvements: Audio has been polished to improve clarity and reliability during matches. This includes clearer cues for movement and interactions to help with positioning, better handling of overlapping sounds, and more dependable playback of critical audio in busy combat scenarios. Continued refinements and improvements are already in the works for later in the season.

In addition to the confirmed updates and fixes listed above, further QoL improvements will continue rolling out over the course of Season 2 and beyond.

Enhancements to hit registration and netcode, recoil, visibility, the map location ping system, and additional audio improvements are all under review and in active development.

REDSEC

Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode, REDSEC, is also set to receive some important changes throughout Season 2 that will aim to create a fairer and more enjoyable experience for players.

Overall armor availability will be increased by adding a chance for additional armor plates to spawn in Class Crates. This is intended to improve pacing and survivability across matches, particularly in situations where armor plates can feel scarce as a match progresses.

There will also be a cooldown introduced on Vehicle Keycards as a mission reward after one is successfully acquired, making it significantly harder to chain tank access back-to-back.

Additional Details

Overall, we can expect more of the same following Season 1, meaning new maps, weapons, vehicles, and modes won't be the only inclusions. That's because Season 2 will also feature a refreshed Battle Pass linked to the chemical warfare theme.

Additional items, such as weapon attachments, packages, character skins, and challenge-based rewards, will likely be included as well.
