Is Blizzard working on a new Diablo IV expansion? One insider suggests we might see upcoming content for the hit, award-winning ARPG franchise.
Speculations were rampant after Geoff Keighley, creator and host of The Game Awards, posted a cryptic Tweet about a bizarre sculpture in the desert. The demonic-like effigy is crafted with detail, with lumps of bodies and demonic faces all piled up to form a portal to hell. It comes with a strange caption, “regal.inspiring.thickness.” The comment section is full of players wondering what the heck he is talking about.

Reliable industry veteran Jez Corden then posted a tweet saying it’s “Time to reinstall Diablo 4 methinks.” Fans were quick to ask him questions about his timely post, with some asking if what Keighley posted related to Diablo. Jez agreed, but he also says that there’s “something more” than just a Diablo IV expansion.
What could this mean? Fans continue to speculate about the sculpture’s significance despite the Diablo IV suggestion. They argued that it might also be the long-rumored God of War game set in Egypt. Fans then quickly debunked that the statue doesn’t resemble anything from Kratos’ franchise, but others remain hopeful.

The most realistic theory for Corden’s “more” statement is that this is likely a Nintendo Switch 2 port for Diablo IV. It’s something most Diablo players have been asking for since Nintendo dropped its latest hybrid machine. After all, the community seems confident that it can run the latest Blizzard ARPG, considering that CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is miraculously playable on the Nintendo platform.
Apart from the Diablo IV Switch 2 port, there’s also growing speculation that this is also a teaser for the Diablo TV show. A year ago, notable industry veteran Jason Schreier mentioned in a Reddit r/AMA that a Diablo show is in development, but not with Netflix. Apparently, Schreier revealed that they had a falling out with the streaming giant. Players believe Amazon picked up the game’s television rights, and it might be the big reveal we expect in The Game Awards.
Amazon is also a major sponsor for The Game Awards 2025, so if we put two and two together, there’s a chance we'll see it happen.
There doesn’t seem to be any confirmation for all this, so take it with a pinch of salt. This might just be another case of Geoff Keighley hyping up his awards show, only to disappoint players with a lukewarm reveal. Players are hoping to see Valve announce the elusive Half-Life 3, but that might not happen anytime soon.
