Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is undeniably one of the most outstanding RPGs ever created, worthy of the Game of the Year (GOTY) award. There's so much to discover by following the main story and exploring the Continent, which is the overworld of the game. At one point, players will come across Gestral merchants in the world, but sometimes there's the "Find an Expeditioner" option in their store. We'll break down why you need to pay attention to it.
While exploring the Continent and different portal areas in the game after meeting Noco and the rest of those in the Gestral village, you will come across different merchants where you can spend your Chroma. Many of them sell things such as weapons and upgrade materials, Pictos, and everyone's favorite, the costumes per character.
What Does "Find an Expeditioner" Mean in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
In short, if you encounter the "Find and Expeditioner" option in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you need to find a new party member to purchase their selection of cosmetics and items
Generally, the Gestral merchant stores are pretty straightforward. Just spend your Chroma to get the item, but there are special options that players can choose. You have a choice to fight a merchant to unlock these unique options in the menu, which can either be a weapon or a Picto that is helpful in many of the fights in the game.
As mentioned, some fans were also puzzled by the "Find an Expeditioner" option, which only has a question mark for its stock number and price. The description says, "Find a missing expedition to unlock this item in the shop."
Act I
You'll likely find this option early in Act I. That's because you haven't met or encountered many of the other party member on your adventure. You will need to progress through the main story and get them to join you before you're able to unlock and buy the item.
Acts II and III
I mainly encountered and noticed the "Find an Expeditioner" option during Acts II and III. In Act II, there's a chance that you may find this option if you haven't reached Monoco's station and if Monoco hasn't joined Expedition 33 yet.
However, If you already have everyone else on the team: Lune, Maelle, Verso, Monoco, and Sciel, and this option still pops up in Act II or III, it may be more logical to think that these may be the cosmetic items for Gustave that you may or may not have bought yet.
At first, I thought that this may be a secret mission in which we need to find a specific expeditioner from the old Expeditions and learn more about their story through the journals to unlock a weapon or Picto. But as I progressed through and collected the journals, it remained the same.
I'm pretty sure that even if you already bought the costume for Gustave, it will still show up as "Find an Expeditioner" as it is now a locked option. It can be annoying or frustrating to see this option, especially for the completionists, as it makes them seem like they missed something.
