  • Primary Subject: Resident Evil
  • Key Update: A reliable leaker has stated that Capcom currently doesn't have any plans to remake Resident Evil 5 or 6.
  • Status: Reported, not confirmed
  • Last Verified: June 23, 2026
  • Quick Answer: DuskGolem claims Capcom is not interested in remaking Resident Evil 5 or 6 at the moment.

Although Resident Evil: Veronica is what everyone is focused on at the moment, players have also been wondering if Capcom is planning a remake for Resident Evil 5. After all, that would logically be the next one after 2023's Resident Evil 4 remake.

However, it appears the developer is currently not interested in renewing/reimagining Chris and Sheva's story.

Prominent leaker DuskGolem, known for sharing insider info on Capcom games over the years, stated in a ResetEra thread that "There is no plan to remake RE5/RE6 right now." The leaker explained that Capcom has no idea what to do with those games, as they haven't committed to remaking them.

This is partly because their current slate of future projects is already full and, according to Dusk Golem, "they tend to keep to only thinking 5 years ahead at any time broadly and will reassess every few years where they should go with the franchise rather than planning some super long-term plan."

Capcom already announced a new remake, Veronica, and a DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, but that's not all. DuskGolem has already reported multiple times that remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 1 are also in the works behind doors.

With all these projects in the works, it's no surprise that the studio is not thinking about 5 or 6 just yet. This doesn't mean that they won't be remade ever, as we could eventually see both titles reimagined.

Players won't have to wait too long to see Chris Redfield again, as the character is expected to appear in the upcoming Resident Evil: Veronica, which is scheduled to release in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
