- Key Update: Following significant community backlash regarding a $40 pay-per-view (PPV) fee, Capcom has officially lowered the price
- Status: Official Update

- Quick Answer: Capcom has reduced the Capcom Cup 12 and SFL Finals PPV bundle to $10 (or $6 individually). Additionally, the final days of the competition will be free to stream directly via the Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub
Capcom has responded to the barrage of criticism after making the Capcom Cup 12 and Street Fighter League Finals a $40 PPV event by lowering the price to $10 and making the last days of competition free to watch via Street Fighter 6's Battle Hub, the game's main social hub.
When the original announcement came out, fans were outraged at the steep price. Sure, you could still watch the first days of competition, but having to pay $40 for Capcom Cup's Top 16 and the SFL finals was an outrageous proposition. One that even SF6 game director Takayuki Nakayama was blindsided by.
In any case, on February 12, via a quick video posted on the official Capcom Fighters X account, General Manager of Capcom's esports division Tetsuya Tabuchi confirmed that, after carefully analyzing the pricing of the Capcom Cup and SFL PPVs, they've opted for a cheaper entry fee to better accommodate fans across the world. It's worth noting that there was no regional pricing taken into consideration during the original announcement, and while that's still not the case, at least it's considerably cheaper.
New Capcom Cup 12 Pricing & Co-Streaming Rules
In short, the major changes for Capcom Cup 12 include the following:
- The pricing for both Capcom Cup 12 and Street Fighter League PPV events has been reduced to $10 across all regions ($6 if you're only interested in one of them).
- Content creators will be allowed to co-stream the initial days of both events between March 11 and the 13.
- The Capcom Cup and SFL finals will be free to watch via the SF6 Battle Hub.
As you can see, those are some nice steps in the right direction. Some could argue that it's still $10 too expensive and that charging a fee to watch a videogame tournament seems rather excessive, which I would agree with.
That said, the ability to view the entire event for free via the Battle Hub is a very interesting compromise. The feed will be directly pulled from Twitch with no ability to pause, rewind, or take clips, of course. Additionally, if you plan to join via your Nintendo Switch 2, you won't be able to watch anything, as streaming through Nintendo's platform isn't possible.
