Battlefield REDSEC, the battle royale companion of Battlefield 6, has been out for almost two days, and many of the players have been trying out this new experience. However, it appears that not everyone is having fun with it, as negative reviews have been hitting the title's Steam page.
The main reason behind these negative reviews is the challenges. Players are not happy that many of the weeklies are tied to the new battle royale, meaning those who want to enjoy Battlefield 6's multiplayer are forced to play the BR just to complete them and progress through the Season 1 battle pass.
"This mode is... ehm... Can live by itself, but its ruining my Battlepass progression with challenges exclusively in BR mode," said one user.

Another common complaint is the absence of a solo playlist, since players can only queue up for Duos or Quad matches. "It was a HORRIBLE idea to force us to play with 3 random guys. No solo mode? Negative from me," claimed another user.
Then the reasons vary quite a lot, from players saying they didn't want to see another battle royale to others mentioning how annoying tanks are in the endgame, and the 30Hz servers the game is hosted.
Regarding that last point, Battlefield's lead producer at DICE, David Sirland, confirmed that even though the servers run at 30 Hz for most of the match, they increase to 60Hz for the final stages, when less people are alive. Sirland even believes that their "30 beats most of the competition out baselines too."
At the time of writing, the game's Steam page shows reviews are mixed, with a little less than 5000 English reviews.
