For the second time in a matter of weeks, Blizzard's Battle.net servers were hit with another DDoS attack just as Verdansk returned to Call of Duty Warzone.
Millions of players jumped into the Battle Royale mode to experience the beloved map for the first time in five years, only for many to be kicked out of the game shortly after Verdansk went live.
Blizzard Entertainment confirmed through its customer support channels on social media that Battle.net was suffering from a DDoS attack. A DDoS attack is a cyberattack that uses multiple compromised systems (botnets) to overwhelm a target server or network with traffic, making it unavailable to users as a result.
Many players were disconnected for several minutes as they were placed in a queue when trying to reconnect to the servers. When some users finally got back into the action, however, the servers crashed again.
Several hours after the DDoS attack commenced, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that it had finally come to an end, although players were far from impressed.
The latest attack comes just weeks after the last, with Battle.net users unable to connect to various games such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and more as its servers were targeted.
For now though, everything seems to be running smoothly once again and players should be able to experience Verdansk's return without any issues. If you are still encountering problems, Blizzard recommends trying these troubleshooting steps.
