The Switch 2 is almost here, and everybody wants to get their hands on it. Naturally, many gamers are hoping they can get the new console through outlets like Amazon, but they might not help out much. Unfortunately, the company could make fans wait longer for Nintendo’s new system, which might infuriate some gamers.
Fans were already annoyed when Nintendo decided that they would determine early pre-orders through the store via their invite-only process. Nintendo will decide to pick you for a pre-order depending on your NSO hours and overall game time, which is pretty annoying. Considering how some gamers have picked up different Switch models over the years, which restarts your game time, many customers are rightfully miffed.
Amazon’s method isn’t much better. Customers can request an invite to try and pre-order the Switch 2, because everyone wants to pre-order this system. However, it’s not certain if you’re going to get an invite. If fans do get an invite, they’ll have to pre-order the system within 22 hours with the link Amazon gives them.
If players aren’t picked by Amazon’s invite process, they won’t be able to make a new application for a Switch 2 until July. That’s right, the company is making you wait three months before you can submit another application if you’re not chosen as part of their convoluted invite process. We understand that there is a huge demand for the new console, but making fans wait so long feels criminal.
There is a reason why Amazon and Nintendo are being restrictive with Switch 2 pre-orders. Scalpers have been buying these consoles and selling them at a higher price, with some customers relenting because they really want the system. Nintendo has vowed to try and make purchases for these consoles an easier process, but they’re also making things harder for their regular customers.
Considering how long it can take to get one of these, many fans are just hoping to try and get one in a year or two. It’s not like Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong Bananza will be going anywhere.
