The Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Reveal event showcased a great deal of what fans can expect from the upcoming DICE first-person shooter. From more small bite-sized experiences to the classic chaotic destruction the series is known for, the devs want to regain some of the goodwill lost in recent years.
After the World War II setting of Battlefield V, BF6 will bring back the franchise to a modern setting, with the story taking place in 2027. Naturally, there'll be plenty of modern gear and weapons to use with the returning Class System.
I'll break down all maps and modes available in Battlefield 6. Do keep in mind that it's a live-service game so I'll try to keep it as up to date as possible While you're here, don't forget to check out how to play the Battlefield 6 Open Beta.
All Battlefield 6 Maps
Battlefield 6 will launch with nine maps. Players will get to explore cities such as New York, Cairo, and many more. One of the maps is a remake of a beloved Battlefield 3 map: Operation Firestorm. This is the full list:
- Liberation Peak
- Empire State
- New Sobek City
- Manhattan Bridge
- Iberian Offensive
- Mirak Valley
- Siege of Cairo
- Saints Quarter
- Operation Firestorm
It's looking like a short list to start, but the Battlefield maps are known for being expansive and prone to massive amounts of destruction so you'll be sure to have plenty of fun.
All Battlefield 6 Modes
In total, BF6 will have eight different modes. Four are your main all-out warfare affairs while four more act as classic FPS offerings.
- Conquest: Two teams fight to capture and hold multiple control points all over the map. Deplete enemy lives by controlling points and killing enemies. When a team's lives hit zero, the battle is over.
- Breakthrough: Attackers push the frontline forward. Defenders hold the line of battle. To secure a sector, attackers must hold all control points within it at the same time. The fight continues until the attackers capture all sectors, or they run out of lives.
- Rush: Arm and defuse. Attackers have to plant explosives at each system and prevent defenders from diffusing them before they detonate. When all M-COMS are destroyed, the fight moves to the next sector. The match ends when all M-COM systems are destroyed, or the attackers run out of lives.
- Escalation: Two teams fight to capture strategic control points. As the teams expand their territory, fewer and fewer control points remain, creating increasingly intense areas of combat. This battle for territory culminates in an all-out war, where both sides fight to control the last remaining points on the map.
As mentioned, on top of these mentioned above, which are the core modes of BF6, expect some more traditional side modes such as:
- Team Deathmatch
- Squad Deathmatch
- Domination
- King of the Hill
