  • Quick Answer: To improve Pokemon Pokopia, developers should implement cloud storage, increase the 30-Pokemon area cap, add more mini-games, and expand the roster beyond Generations I-II.

Pokemon Pokopia is good, but it can do so much more to be great.

Pokemon Pokopia stands out as the franchise's first life sim, and I, like many, have fallen into the rabbit hole. I have laughed over the hilarious dialogue, cried over Peakychu, and enjoyed rebuilding the Pokemon Centers across the four towns.

On the surface, it's the perfect cozy game. But after spending some hours grinding Pokopia, I've pinpointed some things that could make the game even better. Here are some things the devs might want to consider to turn Pokopia into an even more fun game to play.

Fix the Storage System

Like every game that focuses on farming and building, one of the biggest problems Pokemon Pokopia has is the storage system. At the start, it's easy to manage. But as you unlock more towns, you start getting a massive amount of different materials and resources. And if you're like me and love decorating, it can be difficult to keep track of everything you have.

They tried to make it easier on players by allowing them to increase their bag size and letting them hold storage boxes. But it just isn't enough. It would be great if the PC had a cloud that allows players to access items from anywhere. This would be 10x easier than setting up storage boxes, leaving it at a certain place, then having to track it down later.

Add More Pokemon

There are approximately 300 Pokemon in Pokopia, including some Legendary Pokemons (but no Shinys). While that may sound like a lot, if you're someone who grinds the game for hours on end, it won't take that long until you complete your Pokedex.

Some new Pokemon are introduced through limited-time events, like the More Spores for Hoppip event. But it would be great if more Pokemon were included, especially from Generations III to IX, since most of the Pokemon in Pokopia are from Gen I and Gen II. The current pool feels limited - having a wider variety would make our islands feel more unique.

Include More Mini-Games

There are only four mini-games in Pokopia right now: Hide-and-Seek, Jump Rope, Look That Way, and Quizzes. Now, look, these are fun at the start. But they eventually get boring and repetitive, which isn't great since these mini-games help with your Pokemon's comfort levels.

It would be great to include more mini-games to play with your Pokemon, like "I Spy" or "Bring Me." Alternatively, making the mini-games co-op-friendly would also make it more enjoyable, since you can ask a friend to hop on your island and join in the fun.

Make Fast Travel Easier

Fast travel in Pokopia is possible. If you need to go from one town to another, you can teleport to your designated "home" in each town. This is okay, but it can still be difficult if you need to go to the opposite side of the biome.

The ability to add teleporters in certain areas would be great. It could be placed by the developers for important landmarks in each area, or the player could get a recipe to build a teleporter, and get a limit to how many can be placed in each town. This would make travelling faster and more efficient, especially for those farming resources across their whole world.

Stop Pokemon from Disappearing

One of the most frustrating things about Pokopia is how Pokemon literally just... disappear. That's because only 30 Pokemon can appear in an area at once. Once there are more, one unlucky Pokemon will just despawn. This is annoying, especially if you need a Pokemon for a task.

Currently, you can ask other Pokemon if they've seen the one you're looking for. Sometimes, they'll be in the area, and you'll be pointed in their direction. Other times, you'll need to be teleported to their home and use Honey to have them spawn.

This is extremely tedious - especially since we've already built them a habitat. If Pokopia can just increase the cap for Pokemons in an area, that would make it way easier to continue playing the game.

Overall, Pokopia is a great game, and I know I'm going to spend even more hours on the game. But if they could add these things, I'm confident players would love the game even more.
