  • Quick Answer: Pokemon Pokopia launches March 5, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. It's a 10GB sim where you play as a Ditto restoring a barren land, ideal for Pokemon fans and cozy gamers alike.

I have always been a Nintendo kid. I remember stealing my older sister's Game Boy Color Advance and playing Pokemon Red. When I got my own DS Lite, I would spend hours grinding Black/White, and on the 3DS, I loved Sapphire Sun/Moon.

Now I am waiting for Pokemon Pokopia, a game that is said to marry the lore of Pokemon with a cozy life simulator, and I can't wait to experience it. After all, I am also a cozy game connoisseur.

Here's every reason I'm hyped for Pokemon Pokopia.

Pokemon Pokopia is scheduled to be released on March 5, 2026, specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. It's only 10GB in size, so it's the perfect light-weight game to dive into for hours.

Pokemon Pokopia is set in a world where humans have disappeared. You play as a Ditto who misses their human companion so much that they transform into them, which is both sad and adorable to think about.

As Ditto, you set out on an adventure to meet other lost Pokemon, rebuild the barren post-apocalyptic land, and discover what happened to the humans and why they disappeared. You play alongside a Tangrowth, who acts as a professor.

As you meet more Pokemon and befriend them, they help with your quest to rebuild the world. With that, you can use their abilities to help make their homes and collect materials. This feels more reminiscent of OG Pokemon games, which is perfect for Nintendo lovers like me.

Now, this might sound action-packed, but it's actually very chill, which is what I love.

You are free to explore and go at the pace you want. As you explore, you need to rebuild the structures to bring the land to its former glory. There are times the game will force you to take a step away while waiting for your Pokemon to finish a task, which is similar to Hello Kitty Island Adventure (one of my favorite cozy games of all time). With time, the flowers will bloom, and I can't wait to witness that.

It's a game that isn't meant to be grinded through in a day. Not one to be sweated over. And in a world where games are getting more and more competitive, it feels like a breath of fresh air.

The Quality of Pokopia's Multi-Player Capabilities Is Yet to be Determined

One thing I'm not sure about is the multiplayer capabilities.

From what I have seen, this feels like a game that is more comfortable to play alone, like Animal Crossing. Are we going to each other's towns to get materials, similar to what people used to do on New Horizons? Or are we helping each other rebuild the land? As a solo gamer, that aspect doesn't bother me too much, but I'm sure friends who like playing with each other might want to know more about this.

Overall, I am excited for Pokemon Pokopia, and I can't wait to get my hands on the game. Hopefully, it lives up to the expectations in my head.
