Why Honkai Star Rail's Recommended DoT Team Lineup is All Wrong

DoT Team

Honkai Star Rail (HSR) has various team setups that comprise specific characters following certain Paths or have specific abilities. This allows them to deal great damage because of how well their synergy works. However, sometimes, the game's recommended lineup for some of its content can be questionable, like the one for Pure Fiction (PF).

A player shared how Honkai Star Rail's recommended lineup is weird for a Pure Fiction stage that prioritizes Damage Over Time (DoT). This includes characters such as Black Swan and Kafka. However, the game has other plans.

Weirdly, the game recommends the following lineups: One with Gallagher, Tribbie, Castorice, and MC (Remembrance). The other lineup has Bronya, Sparkle, Robin, and Phainon. This already shows the discrepancy since the Pure Fiction stage benefits teams that deal DoT. Many of the players joked that DoT teams are neglected to the point that HoYoverse has already forgotten which characters have that attack effect.

It may be wacky, but the recommendation seems to be based on what players use to clear the stage. There may be a high percentage of players who use these lineups or characters to clear Pure Fiction. As said by another player, "You don't need to conform to rules when you have money." If it's what works for them to complete PF, then good for them. However, it will be confusing and limiting if players don't have these specific characters.

As a player who has a lot of DoT characters, these stages that have a buff for them are a lifesaver. I don't have hypercarry characters, so I make do with what I have. Hopefully, DoT characters and teams will be remembered. That's why the tweaks and buffs on Kafka and other characters are always welcome, as it keeps the older characters usable.
