After its announcement earlier this year, Bulkhead and Team17 are now ready to let players dive into WARDOGS.
The new all-out warfare FPS is set to release through Steam's early access program on Thursday, September 10. Pre-orders are now live, allowing players to purchase the Standard Edition or the Supporters Edition.
The Standard Edition will be priced at $39.99, less than the traditional price. Bulkhead explained that they won't charge the game's full price to anyone who acquires it during early access, since it won't include all major features planned for the full release.
The game will feature three maps, each one with three different variations, and a mix of infantry and vehicle combat. During this period, the developers will focus on addressing stability, performance, balancing, bug fixes, and "the most important points raised by the community."
On top of that, the studio promised the game won't include any kind of in-game monetisation during early access. The only exception will be the Supporters Edition, which will grant players a few extra cosmetic items. In-game cash, gold bars, and status-based camouflage can't be purchased.
“WARDOGS is ambitious, rough around the edges and still has a long way to go, but that is exactly what Early Access should be," Joe Brammer, Bulkhead's CEO, expressed. "We are putting the game in players’ hands, listening to what they tell us and taking the risks needed to turn it into something that can last.”
Before its early-access launch, the studio will run a closed beta weekend to test out the game. This test will take place from August 21 to 23, and only players who pre-ordered the game will receive access.
WARDOGS is exclusively releasing on PC via Steam, as a console version hasn't been announced at the time of writing.
