Besides being a member of the Jackass crew, Bam Margera was also a professional skater, and he was good friends with Tony Hawk, even appearing in the original Pro Skater games.

With the announcement that remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 are coming out, it’s been revealed that several old-school skaters will be returning—but Margera won’t be one of them.

Bam Margera Won’t be in THPS3+4

The full roster for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has been revealed (via VGC), and while there are a lot of returning faces, there was no mention of Margera returning. GameSpot has also said, “Bam Margera’s not gonna be in this game. No one likes to give that guy money.”

Admittedly, for anyone who has been following Margera online for the past few years, he’s been in a pretty rough spot with substance abuse; and his biggest fall was when he was fired from the Jackass reunion movie Jackass Forever while they were in the middle of production.

Though Margera had been posting clips of himself getting better on his social media lately, Activision and the others behind the game likely didn’t want the hassle (or possible backlash) of including him in the remake.

Margera’s History with Pro Skater

Though Margera wasn’t there from the beginning of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, he was introduced in Pro Skater 3. He appeared in subsequent titles, even becoming one of the main NPCs in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, where they have an event called the World Destruction Tour, where skaters are split into Team Hawk and Team Bam.

Of all 9 games in the franchise, Margera would appear in 7, so it’s safe to say that he was one of the mainstays regarding Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.

How are the Fans Taking It?

Jackass fans have been keeping their eye on Margera over the years since he was fired from Jackass Forever, and now it looks like even skate fans are going to have an opinion about his removal.

As far as Twitter goes, it does look like many people wanted Margera to appear in the game, seeing that he was pretty prominent in most of them. Here’s one post:

That said, some fans chose to be pretty diplomatic about getting Margera removed. With his life being put under the microscope right now, maybe it wouldn’t be best for him to feature prominently in a studio-funded game.

If these remakes keep pushing forward in the next few years, maybe there’s room for him to make a return if he manages to keep out of trouble.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will launch on July 11 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5.
