- Quick Answer: The Overwatch 2 experience on the Nintendo Switch 2 has been massively upgraded, making it the best console version outside of PC.
The Nintendo Switch was home to, by far, the worst Overwatch experience you could possibly have. Well, that completely changed with the Switch 2 update, which has now surpassed the Xbox and PlayStation experiences, making it the best way to enjoy Blizzard's shooter if you're not playing on PC.
As someone who wasn't able to jump into the PC version of the game when it originally came out, I had to enjoy it via console. It's always played second fiddle, and in all honesty, it's fair to say Blizzard could've easily focused their entire efforts on PC Overwatch (which was even cheaper than Xbox and PS4 on release) and no one would've batted an eye.
Instead, Blizzard really dedicated itself to making it its own experience. Inherently worse than PC, sure, but they went so far as to make balance changes tailored to console players before crossplay became a thing, that is.
In any case, once the original Switch version of the game debuted back in 2019, it was universally agreed that it was the worst way of playing the game. It was capped at 30FPS, navigating the menus felt clunky, and overall, things like gyro-aiming didn't outweigh the multiple cons of playing on such outdated hardware.
Despite launching with major flaws, like a bug that capped the game still at 30FPS, once Blizzard ironed out some of the minor details, Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch 2 is now my preferred way of playing the game.

That reason is that you get none of the downsides of being a port for a hybrid console, with all the added benefits: the game runs incredibly well, both in-game and during menu navigation. Gone are the days of being at a massive disadvantage playing at 30FPS versus the 60FPS standard, or even losing patience at how sluggish the menus feel.
It's not just docked; handheld is like you're playing on a regular console as well. It has single-handedly skyrocketed Overwatch back to the top of my list of go-to multiplayer games in my rotation. I may have my fill of pure competitive ranked grind after thousands of hours logged between 2016 and 2022, but Overwatch has so many side-modes and different types of competitive modes outside the core 5v5 ranked experience that it's an absolute joy to sink my time into once again. One day, I can try some competitive Stadium, get some missions done on quickplay to progress the battle pass, or hop onto Arcade mode while chatting over Discord with some friends.
All that is great, then you have the cherry on top of the cake: properly functional gyro-aiming. By default, if you master this method of aiming, you'll have a massive advantage over Xbox and PlayStation 5 users.
I'd say this deal is great even for PC players. Say you want to cram a couple of games to grind your battle pass, but are too tired to sit in front of your desk? Simply boot up your Switch 2 and get those dailies in.
Overall, I highly suggest everyone who still doesn't believe that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a more relevant platform for third-party games than the original hybrid console to give Overwatch a shot. It's definitely caught my attention once again.
