With the likelihood of Silksong coming out within the year, some may take it upon themselves to go back to the masterpiece that was Hollow Knight. Playing it will help people gain a better understanding of what makes it so beloved that it has earned itself a highly anticipated sequel.
While nearly all of its aspects can be deemed as top-quality, one of the biggest reasons it drew so many people into playing it is its boss fights. Each one was masterfully crafted by Team Cherry, being diverse enough and providing the right amount of challenge that truly tests one's skills. However, great as they may be, some prove to be much more difficult compared to others.
These can be dubbed as Hollow Knight's most infuriating bosses, as they require more things to learn about, adapt to, and react to than normal, which has made some players genuinely angry or frustrated. As for who these are, a select few make it to the list.
1. Grey Prince Zote

Zote himself offers nothing other than being an infuriating NPC with admittedly entertaining dialogue, but his Grey Prince variation is what really makes him an infuriating threat. His attacks start simple at first, simply flailing about and summoning allies to try to hurt the player.
Eventually, though, he becomes much more difficult, as he can lead unpredictably and even use moves that cause shockwaves that cover wide areas. As a replayable boss fight, he also gets stronger each time he's beaten, making him even stronger and harder. Grey Prince Zote is not to be messed with, and it will take a lot of effort and even anger to beat him.
2. Grimm

While there is a Nightmare King variation, Grimm's first encounter can already be considered one of the most pain-inducing and toughest boss fights in the game. His ability to instantly teleport makes him annoying to keep track of, as there's no telling where he might end up to try and hit the player with his barrage of moves.
But it's his Cloak Spikes attack that has the greatest chance of taking away one's life, as it covers the entire arena and requires perfect positioning to dodge. Most will likely die to him numerous times until they've figured out the patterns, but until then, it will definitely feel like torture.
3. Radiance

One of the biggest reasons why this boss can be so rage-inducing is that it takes the difficult platformer aspect of Hollow Knight and implements it in battle. To dodge most of its attacks, players must be skilled in the act of timing double jumps and pogoing, which is already very difficult in itself.
If that wasn't enough, the final phase is a vertical ascent, forcing one to jump on numerous platforms whilst avoiding a deadly beam that can easily kill. If one wants to get the game's best ending, then they'll have to go through all that, which can feel unfair and even annoying.
4. God Tamer
.webp?width=700&quality=10&blur=40)
The God Tamer boss can be seen as Team Cherry brutally punishing the player for overcoming the odds, not because of the fight itself, but because of the obstacles that must be overcome to get to it. To get to this boss, one must overcome the Trial of the Fool, the hardest challenge of Hollow Knight's colosseum.
After clearing 17 waves of increasingly difficult enemies, only then will the player be able to fight the God Tamer. While not the hardest, the exhaustion that comes from tackling the previous obstacles can make anyone prone to making mistakes, which could lead to their demise. And should that happen, it means starting all over again, making the God Tamer the most infuriating of all the boss fights.
Even the most difficult games can offer some of the best experiences, and Hollow Knight's hardest bosses do just that, especially the most infuriating ones. Overcoming them is a true testament to one's skill, and the satisfaction obtained from doing so is a feeling like no other, making them worth facing despite how frustrating they can be.
