It’s been more than a year since The Last of Us came out on Max to resounding applause, and fans have been waiting eagerly for the second season.

TLOU 2 will be available for streaming this April, and HBO has released a new trailer that confirms even more moments from the game featuring Ellie, Joel, and the rest of the new cast.

New Trailer for The Last of Us Season 2

Rumors were coming out last week that a new trailer was underway, and HBO did not disappoint with this new look at Season 2. Check this out:

The trailer offers more information and confirms the premiere date for Season 2, which will be April 13.

Though fans know that the series will feature the return of the infected, they should also expect other non-infected adversaries to show up in Season 2. The trailer gives a look at the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a faction that Abby is affiliated with, and the Seraphites/Scars, a faction that the WLF is at odds with. The Seraphites are a religious cult that rejects all forms of advanced technology and use specialized whistles to communicate with each other over distance.

What’s curious, though, is the lack of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) in the new trailer, but they do give a lot more emphasis on Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

One new scene confirmed for the season is Ellie and Joel’s flashback to a few years after the first season's events. Not to spoil too much, but Joel takes Ellie on a field trip to an abandoned museum, and they find some really neat stuff inside. It's not clear how much of the museum level from the game will be in the show, but the bit with the space capsule is hands-down one of the most emotional moments in the entire series.

There’s also a scene showing the Seraphites hanging someone. This is actually a ritual for the cult, and they disembowel their victims after they hang them up.

It’s unclear how much the Seraphites will be in the game, but the main characters who were members of the faction don’t seem to be coming this season.

Like the first season, Season 2 looks like it will include new scenes. Since there wasn’t a siege or infected attack on Jackson, the show added that part to show how well-defended the settlement is.

It’s also said that Eugene (Joe Pantoliano)—who was dead by the start of Part II—will have his story expanded, not unlike Bill and Frank from the first season. Players know that he tinkered with technology and weed, but he was also a former Firefly and got into some heinous activities with Tommy—that’s why they ended up quitting.

Hopefully, he gets a backstory that packs the same emotional punch as Bill and Frank’s episode.

Watch out for The Last of Us Season 2 when it premieres on Max on April 13.
