The God of War live-action show made the news back in July when actor Ryan Hurst, who was playing the lead, was injured on set. The production was halted after the accident, and now Amazon is looking to recast the role of Kratos before resuming.
However, Amazon is also in the process of recasting two major roles for the show's eventual second season. A new report from Mp1st revealed that the studio put out two season 2 casting calls in May. The description of these listings matches the original description for Atreus and Thrud casting calls from season 1, but the age is older this time.
In other words, the studio will bring in older actors to play both Kratos and Thor's children.
Callum Vinson and Island Austin are currently attached to play the characters in season 1. With the season 2 casting calls looking for actors between 14 and 17 years old, we can expect the second outing to directly cover the events from 2022's God of War: Ragnarök, as the game featured a time jump.
Casting older actors means the studio will probably try to start production on the second season not long after season 1 is done, instead of waiting for the young actors to grow into the roles.
In the meantime, we are still waiting on news of who will step in to play Kratos. The production is currently scheduled to resume in October in Vancouver, and all four episodes already filmed with actor Ryan Hurst will have to be scrapped.
The show's cast also includes Teresa Palmer as Sif, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Alastair Duncan as Mimir (reprising his role from the games), and Sonya Walger as Freya.
