Although The Division 2 continues to receive content, with the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora collab being the most recent example, it appears Ubisoft has many projects for the franchise in the works.

A few days ago, user domen0204 on X posted photos of advertising in Japan for an unannounced Definitive Edition for the first The Division game. You can see the photo below:

Although we have no official confirmation, the franchise will reach its 10th anniversary this upcoming March, so this would be a great excuse to re-release the first game. Judging by the ads alone, it's unclear if this Definitive Edition will be a remaster or a repackaging of the first game.

This is not the only The Division in the works, as a third installment in the franchise is still in development. Just a few days before this photo circulated on social media, Julian Gerighty, executive producer on the franchise, spoke at the New Game+ Showcase 2026 and gave us a little hint at the status of the new game.

"So, The Division 3 is in production, right? This is not a secret. It's been announced. It's shaping up to be a monster. I can't really say anything more than that. But this is, within these walls in Massive, we are working extremely hard on something that I think will be as big an impact as Division 1 was."

The Division 3 was announced in 2023, and although we still don't have a release date, this is certainly a promising announcement.

With the recent news that Ubisoft is laying off 55 roles at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm, their two Swedish studios, one would think the project is at risk or potentially not going smoothly.

However, a report from GamesIndustry.biz revealed that an internal email said that these cuts are not related to performance issues and "the long-term direction for the studio remains unchanged." The report also states that the studio is still continuing with the development of The Division 3 and expansions for the franchise.

Regarding when we'll get a first look at the game, the question remains in the air for now. In the meantime, remember to stick with us here at Gfinityesports.com, the best website for all things gaming.
