The Devil Summoner RPG Classic Is Being Remastered After Two Decades

The Devil Summoner

Atlus is bringing back one of its most superb RPGs, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, with a fresh twist.

It's been nearly 20 years since its PS2 release, and the action RPG is now getting a full remaster called RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Players step back into the role of Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, a young detective, and Devil Summoner, in a reimagined Taisho-era Japan. His role is to handle odd cases while keeping the peace between humans and demons.

The story kicks off when a girl enters the Narumi Detective Agency, asks for death, and vanishes just moments later. Up next is a supernatural mystery that weaves together shady conspiracies, demonic threats, and a city on the edge.

This remaster pulls from its sequel, Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, with smoother combat, faster movement, and better mechanics.

The battle system now lets you summon two demons at once, opening up new strategies in real-time combat. The game now feels right at home on modern hardware, thanks to the crisp HD graphics and new English voiceovers for the main story.

Atlus changed up the UI to make it easier to read and added handy features like quick saves, auto-saves, and different difficulty levels.

The demon roster's gone from about 70 in the original to over 120, bringing back some fan favorites from Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Kazuyuki Yamai (known for his work on Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance) returns to direct this project for Atlus.

And if his recent comments are anything to go by, this remaster could be just the start of a full Raidou revival.

After years of anticipation, it's happening at last.

All that's left now is to see if Raidou's next case is coming up soon.
