Anna Williams has been a longtime Tekken character, and though she wasn’t in the base roster for Tekken 8, she’s now set to come to the game in the form of DLC.

Unfortunately, some people are unhappy with Anna’s redesign, but series director Katsuhiro Hirada is not taking any of it.

“There will always be people like you.”

Tekken 8 just revealed a new look for the Anna DLC, and fans noticed that she was sporting a completely different look from her iconic bob cut.

Naturally, fans took to Twitter to complain about the changes that they didn’t like. While this is normal on the internet, it seems that Hirada-sensei wasn’t having any of it and retweeted the quote, slamming the hater.

“I understand and sympathize that it may not suit your personal taste, but if you prefer the old design, past works already exist. I am not taking those away from you…

“Either way, your method of expressing your opinion and the content of your argument are entirely unconstructive, utterly pointless, and, above all, disrespectful to the other Anna fans who are genuinely looking forward to her.”

Harada’s post has earned 44k likes, but he isn’t done. You can see that he’s replying to many comments and trying to clap back at him. He’s been posting messages saying, “Stop making counterarguments based on your baseless assumptions. It only exposes your shallow values and lack of intelligence,” before promptly muting the commenter.

What’s New with Anna?

Anna has been a longtime mainstay of the Tekken roster. She has been in the game since the first title, only skipping out on Tekken 4. Throughout her appearances, she’s always been a wily femme fatale, sporting her iconic bob, which was constant until the recent reveal.

For context, here’s a look at the incoming Anna Williams for Tekken 8:

Admittedly, Bob is only half the character, and the new DLC trailer leans into everything else that makes Anna herself, including her hypersexualized outfits and rivalry with sister Nina Williams.

If anything, the haircut isn't even the biggest change for the character. Like many other Tekken fighters for this game, it looks like Anna has also been given a weapon in the form of a bazooka, and she has several attacks that allow her to take it out and smack people with it. That said, her form is still pretty much the same as previous versions, and she still has that scissor chop she's been doing for a while.

Even if they did change Anna's default look, Tekken has a feature that allows players to change skins, and Anna likely has the option to put on her classic look with the silk dress and short bob cut. Any complaints about the new look are just straight-up whining without considering any other options in the game.

It's no wonder Harada just ended up ranting online about it.

Catch Anna Williams when she comes to the game on April 3. Tekken 8 is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
