  • Quick Answer: Street Fighter 6's Evo Japan tournament has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the largest offline fighting game tournament.

The Street Fighter 6 Evo Japan tournament just made history. The Guinness World Records granted the Evo Japan organization the record for the largest offline fighting game tournament in history, thanks to SF6's 7168 entrants, surpassing Evo Las Vegas, which held the record with 7083 entrants.

Right before the SF6 Top 8, Fumika Fujibuchi, Guinness World Record Adjudicator, confirmed that Evo Japan now stands tall above the rest of the major fighting game tournaments thanks to Capcom's title garnering well above 7k competitors.

It's no secret that Street Fighter 6 is a massive hit in Japan. Its popularity perhaps rivals that of Street Fighter II during the golden age of arcade cabinets back in the 90s. Due to this unprecedented level of success, Capcom has decided to host the last two Capcom Cups in Japan, and next year's will also be held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

Biggest Fighting Game Tournaments Of All Time

The Street Fighter franchise holds three of the top five spots on the list, with SF6 taking first and second place, with Street Fighter V's last year at Evo completing the podium. Fourth and fifth go to Smash Bros. Ultimate and Tekken 7:

  • Street Fighter 6 at Evo Japan 2026: 7168 entrants
  • Street Fighter 6 at Evo Las Vegas 2023: 7083 entrants
  • Street Fighter V at Evo Las Vegas 2022: 5,107 entrants
  • Tekken 8 at Evo Las Vegas 2024: 4,646 entrants
  • Smash Ultimate at Evo Las Vegas 2019: 3,534 entrants.
