Stellar Blade needed something massive in its post-game content, something that could’ve bridged the gap between its expansive cast of characters. With the PC release coming this June 11, I was hoping Shift Up might add one big, story-driven DLC, similar to what FromSoftware did with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. NeoWiz also did this with Lies of P through the Overture DLC.
We might be asking for too much, considering Shift Up has poured their heart and soul into the game, but it felt like Stellar Blade could’ve used more narrative love. Instead, we got cosmetics and free skins (which I absolutely love too, don’t get me wrong).
Tachy DLC
There’s so much left to explore in Tachy’s slow descent into madness, something that could’ve been explored through an expansion. We never actually saw the process of her corruption on-screen. Her story feels unfinished, particularly in how her relationship with Eve evolves throughout the game. More context could’ve added real emotional weight to their connection and made Tachy a more memorable character.
It’s a shame we never got to use Tachy in a meaningful way beyond her role as a narrative and gameplay device. Literally, through Tachy Mode, and figuratively, through her bond with Eve.
Raven DLC
One of Stellar Blade’s biggest missed opportunities was not giving Raven more screentime. Like Tachy, she fell victim to the Mother Sphere’s influence, which dramatically altered her perspective on everything she stood for. Raven needed more time to develop, rather than being reduced to scattered collectible audio logs.
A Raven DLC could really elevate her character. It could take place either before or after her confrontation with Eve, or even serve as a prequel exploring the events leading up to Eve’s arrival.
Future DLC?
With the PC release on the horizon, we saw what looks to be the final DLC for Stellar Blade in the form of the Goddess of Victory: Nikke crossover. Shift Up has hinted at big plans for the future, including a Stellar Blade sequel arriving in the next few years. They also have another mysterious title in development, currently codenamed Project Witches; though details on that project are scarce.
For now, all eyes are on the highly anticipated sequel, and maybe, just maybe, the wishes fans have for a Tachy or Raven DLC could find new life in the next chapter.
